White Voices Against Racism was founded in December 2020. Over the next 4 years we shared factual information about the history of systemic racism in our country. Then in May 2025, we realized we had to realign and broaden our mission. This gave start to Voices Together NOW.
Mark E. Kirstner, Founder
We lead transformative learning experiences that awaken conscience and call communities—especially white allies—into deeper awareness of systemic racism, privilege, and injustice. Through workshops, storytelling, book studies, and faith-based reflections, we nurture a spirituality of justice rooted in humility, truth-telling, and ongoing conversion.
We foster relationships across race, class, faith, and identity to build the Beloved Community—one marked by radical welcome, mutual accountability, and shared liberation. By partnering with congregations, local leaders, and justice movements, we strengthen coalitions that can hold space for both healing and collective action.
We equip people of faith and conscience to speak out, show up, and stand firm in defense of justice, equity, and democracy. From voter engagement to prophetic witness at the local and national level, we organize around the belief that public discipleship and civic participation are vital expressions of our faith in action.
White Voices Against Racism (WVAR) officially launched on May 25, 2021 with a “Meet the Founder” Facebook live event. On the anniversary of the passing of Mr. George Floyd, we stood in solidarity sharing the organization’s vision & how those in our community could unite in our charge to end racism.
Very candidly the challenge that WVAR faces is “How can we truly make an impact on eradicating racism if the mere mention of the need for white voices to champion the effort brings about defensiveness, cowardice and full out denial?” White voices supporting brown voices who live and breathe the struggle everyday does not implicate ALL white people as racists or that they are not part of the solution. In fact it’s just the opposite. WVAR provides a platform for ALL voices to come together and learn together, while acknowledging that white voices are needed to end injustices facing so many.
